As an employer, we've always known that our team is our most important asset. As such, we've striven to offer inspirational, secure and long-term employment opportunities to everyone that commits themselves to The Ethicurean. In practice, this means that we invest in training, we operate as a meritocracy, and we offer a caring, supportive and open culture. It also means that we're committed to paying our staff the living wage.
We also recognise that certain existing practises within the restaurant industry – a lack of clarity around service charging and tipping, for example, can impact on the straightforward enjoyment of a meal out.
That's why, as part of the reinvention of The Ethicurean format, we're introducing two new elements to our booking policy. Firstly, to give us confidence that we can generate the income to pay our staff and related costs, we will require payment on booking.
Secondly, and to make the payment process more straightforward for our guests, we have revised our pricing and no longer accept service charge. This ensures our team are paid a fair and stable wage for their continued dedication and hard work.
We are genuinely passionate about ensuring that The Ethicurean remains a viable, ethical and sustainable business for our guests and staff alike. We have seen how vital our industry is for the economy and we believe this is a career path to be cherished.
We strive to lead the industry, both in terms of sustainability, and also the welfare of our team. We will continue to keep setting this bar higher, and we are grateful for your support and understanding in doing so.
